I'm not sure why you think having experience in a job is politically
incorrect. But I can see why the number of years experience as a
measure of how experienced someone is can be considered a misleading,
bureaucratic nonsense.

I've come across people who've had umpteen years experience of this r
that, and they're hopeless. At the other extreme (and I know it's well
extreme) I once worked with someone who was promoted after a week in a
job (and quite rightly IMHO).

The assumption that someone is not good enough to be considered
experienced because they haven't spent so much time sitting on their
bum staring out of the window is as wrong as the idea (at the other end
of the age spectrum) that more than so many year's experience means the
person is not good enough to be promoted,
