I'd have said the arguments about road pricing are pretty academic, when
you consider that we have approached the point when oil production has
peaked or about to peak (depending on who's figures you believe). I
think we have another 30-40 years.
We need lighter, smaller (and arguably slower) more fuel efficient cars
as well. However the efficiency gains of internal combustion engines has
been squandered to provide motorists with greater performance rather
than more economy. Want to pay less fuel tax? Then slow down.
