[Gllug] File permissions and umask on Ubuntu (and I think probably, Debian)

Thanks.  Now I have two things in mind -

	0. Isn't the ACL approach better?
	1. Why is this shared-dir thing giving us so much trouble?  Why didn't
	it come to anyone in the 28 year long history of Unix that there should
	be a very simple and easy solution?  Really strange!
