DVD-Video is 720x576 = 414720 pixels/frame (for PAL, at least)
HDTV is 1080x1920 = 2073600 pixels/frame
Thus HDTV requires 5 times as much storage space as DVD-Video. Of
course, in reality it's never quite that simple, but for the purposes
of this argument, it's good enough.
