Well, perhaps not for Microsoft, but there are plenty of third party
companies that specialise in Windows support. And as such, in order
to support their customers and prove that they're very knowledgeable
in such matters, pay Microsoft much money to get materials (Technet
subscriptions), certification and support themselves from Microsoft.

The main problem with Linux, for Microsoft, is the licensing. Because
of the way Linux is licensed, Microsoft aren't going anyway to making
their own distribution unless they can have full control of it.
