[Gllug] [VACANCY] HPC Systems Engineer

Hi,

Viglen are currently looking for a HPC System Engineer. The successful
candidate will join the HPC Team here and help with out with
installations of HPC systems and participate in developing Viglen HPC
solutions (all linux based to date, but may have to dab a bit in windows
CCS depending on its popularity!)

Some of the skills that will be looked upon favorably:
- Experience within HPC area (Exposure to rocks, oscar or any linux
clustered environment) 
- Queue/Batch systems (SGE, torque/maui)
- Grid technologies (Condor, Globus...)
- Monitoring and management of a large number of systems (kickstart,
system imager, ganglia, nagios...) 
- Parallel programming understanding (Various MPI Implementations) 
- OS Remastering (Knoppix/Ubuntu/Redhat)
- Benchmarking linux systems (building code from source,
performance/compiler optimisation...)
- Ability to write Bash/Perl/Python scripts to automate routine tasks
(monitoring systems, generate reports etc) 

While all these skills are not essential to the role, they are
beneficial to any potential candidates (don't shy away if none of the
above are in your portfolio, general linux gurus who can demonstrate an
in-depth knowledge of the linux OS and show a keen interest in getting
into the HPC field will also be considered). Training will be provided
to the successful candidate to ensure a high level of knowledge and
ability within the group. This is an excellent opportunity to join a
rapidly growing and experienced HPC Team.

Salary will be in the range of 25k-35k depending on experience. 

The company is based in Hertfordshire (AL2 2DQ - really stretching those
greater London boundaries!)

Little bit about the company:
Viglen are involved heavily in the education market with the main bulk
of our business centered on desktop/server sales. In the last few years
we have become more involved with HPC (High Performance Computing) in
higher education and have established a HPC group within the company.
One of our London deals involved a large cluster at Queen Mary
University.
