I'd try two things:

1) switch to software cursor (should be HWcursor/SWcursor options for nv
I think)
2) try the binary nvidia driver (no I'm not saying you should use it
forever and ever, just test it to see if it occurs there).

Either way, you should probably file a bug with freedesktop.org if it
doesn't have one already.
