You can see how they are utilized
run top
and press 1

I have a hyper-threading cpu

cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep physical
physical id     : 0
physical id     : 0

top shows me
-------------
Cpu0 :  7.4% us,  1.8% sy,  0.9% ni, 66.6% id, 22.6% wa,  0.2% hi,   
0.5% si
Cpu1 :  7.6% us,  1.5% sy,  0.7% ni, 80.7% id,  9.4% wa,  0.0% hi,   
0.0% si
