[Gllug] Shutdown proceedures

Hello,
   I am being supplied with power through a faulty local feeder, and the
supply company is having difficulty locating the exact position(s) of the
fault(s). We could lose power for long periods as they work overnight to
minimise inconvenience to customers.
   I do not want to wait for everyone else to finish before I go to bed, so
usually ssh into networked boxes and use "shutdown -h +nnn"  but noticed
that the normal prompt does not return immediately. Does the box that I use
to send the commands need to be shut down last for all the other boxes to
follow the commands?
