Tell me about it. Their non-cable broadband has one of those policies
that disconnects you if you are idle so they can reallocate the IP
address. Not a terrible idea but we use this in some of our small (two
people) offices and with each one find the connection is dropped by
Virgin several times a day.
On Friday I was in one of those offices and watched the IP address
change about four times in one hour. Even though the connection was idle
for only about 4 minutes at any one point. The line has been tested to
oblivion and is fine (so I am told) and this is the case in most of the
offices using them. Keep alives don't work either.
And don't get me started about the time when one office moved and
instead of moving the broadband they swapped it with another office (so
now they have to login as each other)!!
Needless to say we are migrating away from them.
