Dear Peter,

If I am being too careful regarding the distribution of my software is
because I being advice to do so by an American diabetes suffered that
created an Open Source application to map the food intake onto blood
sugar changes, some sort of database with loads of different types of
food and how each would affect your blood sugar levels. As far as my
understanding goes the GNU/GPL doesn't provide any protection against
tort and liability may someone misuse the software and hurt him/herself.
We are talking about a "medical" software, and the possible consequence
of someone misusing the software could be much worse than some HD
failure, or some hardware damage.
Also, and you are quite right here, the possibility of ending up in
court are quite slim, at least in this side of the Atlantic.

It would be interesting to hear from all of you regarding this issue, as
I would love to be able to widely release the software for anyone to
use.

In any case, if you want to and you are interested I can send you the
source code.

Cheers,

Wenceslao Requejo
