Position: Linux Specialist

 

The role involves assisting with the running and maintenance of the
studios as well as aiding the development of the network infrastructure.

 

Essential Requirements:

 

-        Excellent knowledge of the Linux operating system (particularly
RH distributions).

-        Proficiency in installing and upgrading workstations and
servers. 

-        Ability to learn quickly and problem solve is essential.

-        Excellent communication and team working skills.

-        Accuracy and attention to detail.

-        Capacity to manage a busy workload with high productivity.

 

Responsibilities:

 

-                     Compiling applications using gcc. Ability to
resolve dependencies. (above and beyond ./configure, make, makeinstall -
prefix's etc)

-                     Administration of LAMP servers including custom
compiled Apache/PHP

-                     Administration of Samba PDC with LDAP backend. –
Must have knowledge of LDAP database structure, Creation of base DN’s
using OpenLDAP, slapcat/slapadd and LDIF layouts. Understanding of how
to setup a machine for use with LDAP by hand a must. Recommended reading
for Samba: “Samba-3 by Example”

-                     Scripting – Must be proficient in the use of shell
scripting to simplify common/repetitive tasks for the end user.

 

Useful Knowledge:

 

-                     VFX software such as Maya, Renderman, Shake.

-                     Network Management tools.

-                     Linux Mail Servers.
