[Gllug] Installing on an older machine

Hello,
Debian Lenny is unable to boot from its own floppy because the latest
kernel is too big, and I have a box which will only attempt to boot from
floppy or a SCSI disc containing a crashed copy of M$. There is a SCSI CD
but it is not found. Should it be possible to write GRUB or GRUB2 to a
floppy, giving enough information to then boot from an installation CD?
