Afraid not, as you mention previously the pci=noacpi gets around the
'Instant Off' issue, the images in production *should* have this setting
enabled (works for ubunutu dist's as well as rhel ones), I'll politely
go boot someone...  

I'll investigate the possibility of getting an updated BIOS and let you
know offline.
