The "speed" wars will continue as long as there are gullible punters
willing to part with their hard-earned!  The actual processing speed
increase between (for example) a 2 GHz and 3 GHz processor is almost
unmeasurable for most operations.  The real bottlenecks are elsewhere in
the current PC designs - predominantly in the RAM, the hard drives and
the other ancillary hardware.  This is unlikely to change in the near
future.
