I've been using clickatell.com for about 5 years now, and they are quite
good - never had a problem and have sent about 12,000 sms messages
through there over the years ( mostly used it to send sms's abroad for
2p a msg when UK providers charge about 10 times that ).

I've now setup a small web portal on my website that a few friends share
with me, and we tend to use webbrowser on mobile's for the send or email
to sms. Works well, is cheaper and delivery notification works too (
unlike o2, which seems to almost never be able to send delivery
notifications ).

You can also send mms and complex data messages using clickatell.
