I'm on Orange and can get an SSH connection fine - either directly on
my blackberry (8820), or via bluetooth on my mac. It does drop out
when on the train and going through tunnels, but sitting still it's
fine as long as I have GPRS or EDGE reception. The speed isn't great
(frequently ~1s latency), but I only really use it in emergencies to
check on servers.

The settings I use are:

APN: orangeinternet
username: user
password: pass

Regards,

Paul
