Lead Site Reliability Engineer 

Facebook is seeking a senior operations engineer to take part in leading one of the fastest-growing teams in the company. The ideal candidate will have outstanding communication skills, a solid history of Linux experience, and a knack for working with teams of talented people to get the job done.

Members of the SRE team are exposed to all aspects of the production environment. Systems, network and application support are just the fundamental responsibilities of the position, which also includes duties such as design review, tools development, capacity planning and performance tuning. Ultimately, SRE's job, and a great source of pride, is to always reply in the affirmative to the question: "Is the site up?"

The position is full-time and is based in our office in Soho, London. This position reports to the Manager of Site Reliability Engineering.

Requirements:

·         5-6 years+ Linux support/sys admin experience in an Internet operations environment

·         Advanced knowledge of Linux, Cisco, TCP/IP, Apache and mySQL

·         Proficient in one or more of the following network management systems and monitoring tools: Nagios, Ganglia, Cacti.

·         Competency in Shell, PHP Perl or Python. C is a plus!

·         Solid understanding of web services architecture and commonly employed technologies

·         A sense of urgency in responding to and resolving critical issues that relate to the performance of the site and/or core infrastructure

·         BA/BS (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field

·         Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
