Thanks for the offers of support from everyone. Given that I'm on a plane to Austria tomorrow morning and time is
running out, I'm resigned to waiting until I get back home on Sunday to fix this. Looks like I'll have to dictate
everything over the phone rather than put it in an email :)

Hey there,
I'm visiting the UK from Australia. Unfortunately I've
bricked the default Asus software - f9 doesn't work any
more. Desperately seeking someone near Windsor with either
the Asus CD or eeexubuntu install CD.
