I'll fourth dymo. But if you can, go for one of the industrial ones,
they tend to survive accidental dropping off the top of racks. Last one
I used was along the lines of this one - model number has probably
changed.

Get a stock of the flexible nylon tape so you can do nice self adhesive
wrap arounds like in the pretty pictures.
