I am interested in this.

Attached is a CV.

Do you have any more details as to the requirements of the job and
salary expectations?

PROFILE

I have been working with Linux commercially since 1994. In that time I
have concentrated on the implementation of new systems, integration
with existing systems and systems administration with a small amount
of development work.

Prior to that I gained more than 5 years expeirience with proprietary
systems most of which was focused on the IBM AS/400 mini computer
platform and PC based local networks with some wide area network
integration.

In the past I have created and maintained a Linux distribution called
Definite Linux which was derived from RedHat and was sufficiently
popular to attract the interest of a commercial distrubution company
in 1999. The dsitribution expended upon RedHat's distribution with
the inclusion of several RAID and other drivers into the kernel and
the addition of encryption technologies that RedHat were unable to
include due to US export laws. I maintained this for 3 years before
deciding that it had become redundant due to improvements in the
RedHat distribution.

For the past 8 years I have focused primarily on the ISP sector and
I have launched 2 ISPs - UK Free Software Network, which I now run,
and uklinux.net which I left in 2002.

TECHNOLOGY SUMMARY:

Below is a list of the main highlights of the technologies I have
worked with extensively over the past 19 years.

Operating Systems Experience:
Linux (various distributions including Debian, Ubuntu, RedHat, SuSE
and others), *BSD, OS/400 (1989-1997), Windows from 2.0 through
to XP and Vista.

Applications:
GNU platform, Apache, Bind, PowerDNS, MyDNS, Postfix, Sendmail,
Dovecot, Courier IMAP, tpop3d, Amavis-ng, Spamassassin, ClamAV,
MySQL, PostgreSQL, Perl, PHP, Python Samba, Asterisk, FreePBX

Various Office packages

WORK EXPERIENCE

2002 - Present:	UK Free Software Network

I launched UK Free Software Network in 2002 as an ISP for users of Free
Software with a promise that profits are to be used to fund Free Software
projects in the UK. The UKFSN servers are based on Debian Linux to provide
email, web, usenet news and other internet based services to approximately
6,000 customers.

Most of the system administration is managed via perl scripts I have
written to either automate management or put as much as reasonably
possible into the hands of users. A lot of development work has focused
upon interaction with third party systems via various forms of XML
interface.

2000 - 2002: Definite Software Ltd T/A uklinux.net

I conceived the idea to run an ISP for Free Software users originally in
1999. As I had invested heavily in the development of Definite Linux
it was necesary to develop this project in partnership with a financial
sponsor. Ultimately, while the ISP was itself successful, the partnership
proved to be a mistake so I left to form UKFSN.

1999 - 2000: Moneyworld.co.uk

A 4 month contract providing systems administration on the UK's busiest
and most popular public financial information website. This contract
was primarily focused upon maintaining a stable platform and tuning
to improve performance. The site was the only site to remain in operation
throughout the 2000 budget broadcast providing live updates and analysis
as the budget was broadcast to over a million unique visitors and a
very active discussion forum.

The platform was Linux, Apache, mod_perl and MySQL.

1997 - 1999: Definite Linux Systems Ltd

>From 1997 onwards I concentrated on the development of Definite Linux,
the RedHat derived distribution I compiled and on consultancy services
specialising in the implementation and support of Free Software based
systems.

1992 - 1997: Various Contracting Roles

During this period I undertook a number of contract assignments providing
technical support and systems administration to a wide range of clients
mostly in the insurance sector. Most of these contracts concentrated on
integrating PC based local networks with legacy AS/400 mini systems and
migrating those systems to TCP/IP networks.

During latter half of this period I used Linux extensively to both to
provide the glue between existing systems and to facilitate the
development of new services within client systems.

1989 - 1992: Bank of Bermuda

A systems administration covering AS/400 operations and local and wide
area networking support for the London and European operations of the
bank.
