[Gllug] Server mobo with decent Linux drivers

I've been looking at the Tomcat H1000S (S3950) to go with an AMD Athlon 64 
X2 6000+ for a small Linux server but their support page only lists drivers 
for RHEL4 and SUSE9. Anyone had luck with Tyan Tomcat boards and current 
Linux distros? I don't want to be tied to old kernels simply because the 
manufacturer can't be bothered to release updates. Failing that, can anyone 
recommend a decent low-end server mobo which won't have kernel update issues 
like this?
