For future reference:-

alan at bishop:~$ lsb_release -a

alan at bishop:~$ cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 8.04.1"

Google + ubuntu releases = http://releases.ubuntu.com/ as the first
hit which has this at the top:-

Ubuntu 6.06.2 LTS (Dapper Drake)
Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy Eft)
Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn)
Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon)
Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS (Hardy Heron)
Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex)
