Oh, and while I remember - I'm sure everyone else knows this, but I 
didn't for ages and after "screen" it's my favourite suprise discovery.

In ~/.ssh/config you can have something like:

Host foo
     ForwardX11  no
     Hostname    www.foobar.net
     User        bar
     Port        2222

Then you can just do "ssh foo".
