I don't think sans are as difficult as there operators like to make out, I
had no problem picking and using 5 different types of san for cheapest HP
storage works to the most expensive a Hitachi USP tagma store. The thing is
with sans they have disk for multiple servers, I did have the power to put
the company out of business in minutes. So the environment is a NO mistake
one, which is why its very difficult to break into. Employers don't even
like if you have the wrong brand of san.
As to cross site replication, its not as easy as people might think, your
transactions need to be "in order", so the flow of data is interupted the
far end is usable, out of order while its alot faster to copy the data the
far end cannot be used until it is in sync. Have a look at the IBM SVC
equipement, these are designed to do cross site replaction, also they run
linux! Not that your get to see it.
