That might be your clue:  as I recall, there have been some "issues"
with some 1Tb Western Digital drives (though not as bad as the Seagate
firmware problems).  I can't immediately find the reports on this (I'm
not at home).

I'm having trouble supporting Western Digital:  they are the company
that invented the DRM'd hard drive!
