Well, you wanted to go to the newspapers in order to show how
enlightened your council is. I think you have an history there,
unfortunately not the one you have hoped for.
To refuse the use of equipment for Linux courses is pure stubbornness,
you could use live DVD distros and that way their precious and very
expensive Windows installations would not be touched...
I think you are hitting a political wall, not a technical one, so the
techies there are not the right people to be talking to.
If you have a blog you could document all your travails and when you
have got enough information you could let Slashdot get the word out,
that way the council would have at the very least need to explain
their continuous refusal to support such worthwhile efforts.
