Normal HPC cluster type setup is to ssh to the cluster head node
(login node) then use IPMI Serial Over Lan to reach the serial
consoles on the compute nodes, and uses IPMI to power up/down compute
nodes.
Generally works quite well - assumes though that your login node is
reachable of course!
