FWIW (for reasons similar to those detailed by Mr Hawtin) I've tried a
few of these and the only kind I found that works totally correctly is
that sold by www.clickeykeyboards.com. Others either are simple
adapters (and don't work at all) or are poor quality converters that
leave some of the keys on the keyboard non-operational (I suspect this
is down to using non-US keyboards). I use an IBM Model M and an
ancient PS/2 KVM switch (can't tell you the model, sorry, not at
home); my USB-only machine is an IBM^W Lenovo Thinkpad.

No connection save satisfied customer, kind of thing.
