I can't recommend the IBM stinkpads^Wthinkpads highly enough, my main
laptop is one and I'm a very happy user of it. Sure, it's out of date
(1.2ghz), but it runs ubuntu at quite a lick. I just bought a shiny
5600/7200 rpm drive for it (for more space rather than the speed I
might use whilst on main power) and I'm going to shove a gig of memory
in it at some point.
On the other hand, I've heard bad things about the purely lenovo
stinkpads. Looks like when you don't have IBM looking over your
shoulder, things go wrong.
As for not buying macs, Schinker, you're an idiot. My macbook pro
that I unfortunately left in a cab (and let that be a lesson to use
hard disk encryption to you all, and also to be careful about checking
you've got everything) was the best laptop ever made, hands down.
