I don't deny that, however it's got nothing to do with my point, which was
that John Hearns implication that one should routinely do background checks
on LinkedIn is somewhat bizarre and unreasonable.

IME, they don't even bother to read the CV that's in front of them, much
less bother searching Google or LinkedIn, at least if the flood of recruiter
spam I receive is any guide.
