More: Everyone should have it installed *statically linked*. Yes, it's
huge when you do that unless you happen to have uClibc available, but
it's really useful if you knacker your dynamic linker to have *one*
does-most-things tool available that doesn't rely on *anything* outside
the kernel working.
For everything else (other than ldconfig and sln, of course), stick with
dynamic linking. (I've had *intense* arguments with BSD and SysV folk
over this, but I remain convinced that there's no excuse for having
statically linked versions of damn nearly everything just because they
are fractically faster under artificial workloads.)
