Based in London, Escape Studios provides accelerated learning to school
leavers, graduates, industry professionals and businesses. We help recruit
top industry talent and provide expert computer graphic solutions to the
visual effects and gaming industries.

There is currently a vacancy in the Engineering team for the position of
Linux Infrastructure Engineer. The role offers the successful candidate
maximum potential to advance and develop technical skills, gain experience
with state-of-the-art technology, and the opprotunity to learn from
specialist staff as part of the team.

Primary Responsibilities
- Provide infrastructure support for the linux/POSIX-based filesystems and
storage units from Isilon and NexSAN
- Develop linux-based (Samba) PDC's for acceptance of new Windows 7 clients,
inclusive of folder redirection, LDAP resources and other general tasks
- Determine and develop issues with other parts of infrastructure inclusive
of wiki's, imaging systems, domain controllers, virtual servers, development
platforms and more
- Maintain and develop IPCop-based firewall system and ADVProxy/Squid proxy
systems
- Maintain and develop PXE/Kickstart linux installations for studio
workstations and continually upgrading software packages including but not
limited to; Maya, Shake, Nuke and the like
- Support artist, office and studio staff and students for day-to-day linux
issues
- Maintain documentation of procedure, installations, configurations and
otherwise

Secondary Responsibilities
- Provide 3rd line support for the Engineering team and studios/office on
XP
- Provide 3rd line support for the Technology Sales team for clients on many
platforms
- Provide office support on CITRIX-based SalesForce CRM system
- Provide and develop support systems for the Development team working with
CVS repositories, MySQL, PHP and basic external DNS/hosting issues

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Good working knowledge and interest in computer hardware, networking and
operating systems
- Previous systems administration experience or help desk support
- Candidates should give examples of the level of experience with different
operating systems and hardware
- A degree is not required but enthusiasm, interest and the ability to learn
quickly and think on your feet is essential
- Excellent communication, people skills, and team working skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Capacity to manage a busy workload with high productivity

Desireable:
- Previous administration experience on Linux / BSD / Mac OS X based
computers
- Scripting languages: bash, tcsh, perl or python
- Enthusiasm and a commitment to learn and get involved in departmental
activities
- Experience with DNS, and WAN protocols
- Experience with PHP, SQL, LAMP
- Virtualization (VMWare)
- Experience with OpenLDAP, Nagios, PXE/Kickstart, FOG, DHCPD, CVSD
- Production/Post-Production experience

Salary:
Up to 22k/yr depending on experience and skillset (negotiable)
