Ah!  JCL - deep, deep joy (well, maybe not). I had to learn JCL to
submit jobs to
our IBM at Glasgow, and remotely at RAL and CERN.

As you say,  that those dinosaur mainframes ran virtual machines, for
all the same
reasons that the young whippersnappers are now touting for VMs being
the be all and
end all. You have the privilege of sighing heavily and saying that
there's nowt new under
the sun.
