I have a few backup solutions that I have produced over the years, there
is an emphasis on simple use - one line cron jobs:

	http://www.phcomp.co.uk/Packages.php

BackupToDisk may be closest to what you want, although if you do have
another machine then I would recommend RsyncBackup.

All packaged as RPMs for RedHat/Centos, but tar.gz as well. I'll do .deb
when I get round to it.
