I would expect a "Wired" modem to have an ADSL connection in it so it is
more or less than a switch. If its also go a filewall/router in it then its
more than a switch. However if its doing PPPoE in bridge mode its doing less
than a switch. [Ethernet] switches just forward packets between ports based
on destination mac address.
