OK. Just read your recent email, so that has already been checked.

Next thing is to check the data and power cables, and try replacements.

Can you hear/feel the drive spinning up when the machine is powered on?

Also try another IDE disk. If several IDE disks can not be read with
different data and power cables, then the motherboard is probably
faulty.
