It might be simplest to just get a SATA disk, a quick peep at my local supplier
and I see:

* Hitachi Deskstar 320GB 3.5 7200rpm 16mb Sata -- #35.24 inc vat
* Hitachi Deskstar 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache -- #39.89 inc vat

This means that you have the old machine as a backup/...
