Crossover Office is a strong contender..  I used it to write[1] an
entire book, complete with complex formatting and annotations.
Because Crossover is actually running MS Office on Linux, you won't
have any compatibility issues, and I found it perfectly stable.

[1] The wisdom of writing a book using Word is another matter.  I
found it to be almost entirely the worst tool imaginable for this
purpose.
