Interesting, especially the "OCaml programs are more than 10 - 15 times 
faster and less memory intensive than Python programs." bit. I'm not 
sure I accept all his arguments though, especially the try writing it in 
C strawman, C being a mid-level language will probably always seem 
verbose compared to other languages and any decent language will have a 
module for that kind of operation, for example Python has the 
hachoir_parser module that does tcpdump and just about any other binary 
format you can name, still, interesting.
