Dear list,
We have a vacancy at the Centre for e-Research at King's College
London for a software developer/analyst. A quick job summary:
King's College London is looking to recruit a software developer/analyst to
work on the Kindura project (http://kindura.cerch.kcl.ac.uk). Kindura is a
JISC-funded project that is developing a cloud computing solution at King's
that incorporates both external cloud providers (such as Amazon) and an
internal cloud (using underutilised institutional computers and storage). The
purpose of this cloud pilot is to support researchers, both by managing
research data (integrated with a Fedora digital repository system) and by
allowing the execution of computation-intensive processing.
We are looking for a software developer with enthusiasm for cloud computing
and who is capable of producing properly documented, maintainable code, as
well as performing analysis and design work. This is an excellent opportunity
to gain experience at the forefront of research computing infrastructure.
Applicants must be well motivated, innovative, flexible and willing to learn
with good interpersonal skills. A computer science degree or equivalent IT
experience, as well as strong Java development skills in a Linux/Unix
development environment are essential. Previous experience of web services
and cloud computing are desirable.
Location: Central London (Drury Lane)
Duration: Permanent
Salary: Salary for this position will be at an appropriate point of
Grade 6, currently between £33,070 and £39,074 per annum
(inclusive of London allowance). Benefits include a
contributory final salary pension scheme, subsidised gym
membership and 27 days of annual leave, 4 college closure
days, plus public holidays.
