IMHO the best interviews for coders are those where you establish that
the light is on, that there's a real interest in the field (ie: "can keep up"),
how curious the light is and in which particular areas, and whether the
person has a decent glimmer of reliability / communicative effectiveness.
That's about the most you can hope for...

Those "fill out our tedious long technical questionare" things are really
like saying "if you work here we will hide behind procedure instead of
spending any time to listen to you, therefore the work environment is
going to be drab and unstimulating".
