[Gllug] Vacancy - Support Engineer

Hi,

We are a small company specialising in providing an assortment of IT 
services for small businesses and freelancers. We are looking for a 
person who would be happy to visit a number of our clients on a regular 
basis to deal with the usual assortment of IT issues. Our clients have 
both Windows and Mac based desktops, and may have either Windows or 
Linux servers, or both.

Outside of site visits, the person we are looking for would also provide 
remote support, primarily by telephone, but if necessary by connecting 
remotely to the caller's server or desktop, to those clients for whom 
the person would be responsible for. This person would also help to 
cover other staff's clients when their primary contact was otherwise 
unavailable. When not at clients' the applicant would be expected to 
work out of our offices in Chiswick (West London, very close to the 
station on the overground from Waterloo).

Whilst the desktop and Windows Server work is pretty routine (MSOffice, 
MS Exchange, printers, etc) we are doing a lot in regards to Linux 
servers, providing our clients with many services such as CalDAV, IMAP, 
wiki, ActiveSync, LDAP address books, which are not usually part of a 
routine Linux install. So the job would be of interest to anyone with an 
existing desktop / Windows server support role, who is feeling 
undervalued or underwhelmed by their current job, and who would like to 
learn more about what Linux can really do.

We are more interested in the person than any bits of paper they may 
have, so this vacancy is ideal for someone who has attended the school 
of hard knocks, or failed to remember to go to their finals! Depending 
of the level of experience, we would expect to pay a salary of between 
£24K and £30K.
