Absolutely.  Earlier this year, an unfortunate combination of power and
disk failures forced me to migrate the (mirrored) filesystems on two
machines to new disks.  pvmove made that simple; I was able to get on
with other work on the computers while the data was moved on the fly.  A
little extra forethought on these matters can be a lifesaver.
