NetCraft provide useful statistics on web hosting:
http://uptime.netcraft.com/perf/reports/performance/Hosters?orderby=epercent&tn=july_2010 
shows that Linux is running 11 of the top 20 most reliable hosting 
providers; Windows is run on 3 of the top 20. The rest are FreeBSD or 
"unknown".
