It depends very much on whether you're running the glxgears window at 
its original size or maximized.

On my desktop machine (Acer Aspire Revo - 1.8 GHz Intel Atom, NVidia Ion 
graphics) I get 4178 fps at the default size, but 345 fps when maximized.

59 fps is slow.
