Yes, I avoid writing LaTeX by hand and use the LyX frontend, which
seems to solve most issues without the need to wade through decades of
obscure history, what-ifs, upgrades, footnotes, font systems, etc.

Of course, it still has issues and cannot provide a pretty button for
every possible use case, but it's pretty damn good.

I use it to write all my documents now :)
