If it's a new Shuffle, you're out of luck, last I checked; the good
guys haven't cracked those yet.
Sell it to someone who does drink the Kool-Aid and get a device from
practically any other manufacturer, which will just act as an ordinary
USB device and play files you put on it.
At the very low end of the market (Alba, which is Argos with a
different hat on) you can still get devices that run off ordinary AAA
batteries instead of pointless internal batteries.
I have one of those which lives (in a plastic bag) in the back pocket
of my cycling jacket; I clock circa 4,000 miles a year and it hasn't
broken in the months I have owned it, so it's not that fragile,
either.
