[GLLUG] Amazon EC2 vs Hetzner dedicated box. Am I missing the obvious?

It doesn't make sense to compare a cloud product with a single
dedicated server.

If you just need one server, and are happy that it can be hosted in
one of Hetzner's data sheds, then that is always going to be cheaper
than a cloud provider with an API, ability to scale in multiple
availability zones, attach network storage, etc. etc.

EC2 (except perhaps for the free tier) isn't really for the purpose
of putting up single hosts.
