They also promote open data standards (in the preamble, even above the 
specific points). An the point is that they are lobbying against a determined 
attempt by big business (and no doubt spooks) in the European parliament to 
undermine of all those things. Putting specific pressure on the EU election, 
as they are doing, is a good way of stopping that.

Genuine open standards are once again being undermined e.g. by M$'s bogus 
compliance with ODT.

Not sending this to the list.
